Why thrillers thrive?

Thrillers provide us with the 'thrills' and 'shake-ups' that we crave but give us the sense that we are safe sitting in a arm chair at home watching it subconsciously knowing we are safe.

there was an exhibition of sideshow promising thrills, and there was a handful of people at a time and were sat in front of curtains, presuming the curtains would open to reveal a screen and watch a 'thrills' film one of the colous at the side started to fall and before anybody had the chance to panic or move the column was suspended ion the air, this provided a thrill but the show was eventually closed as people felt that there safety was at risk.
